A British broadside celebrating William Pitt, and London merchants and traders who declared to continue to accept paper money at a time of financial crisis caused by the Jacobite Rising and other events in 1745


The Jacobite Rising of 1745, the threat of the invasion of England by France, huge war expenses by the Government, and other political events accumulated into a general panic, and a run on the Bank of England. In order to counteract a financial crisis, merchants and traders declared that they would continue to accept paper money.
